See-Saw – Kambisa!’s first visual art project
Desh Chisukulu, director of Kambisa!BeHeard, created the first visual art project for Kambisa!
The creation, called See- Saw, was part of Desh’s final assignment for his study ArtScience in Den Haag.
It is an interactive audiovisual installation, that consists of a seesaw with seats facing opposite directions. In front of each seat a monitor is mounted, that the users can watch while seesawing. Also there is a small camera filming both users.
When they move gently, and stay balanced, they see themselves and each other on the screen, but when they go faster and move more agressively, disturbing media images start flashing by.
The audio, a soundscape consisting of many different music, speech and noise samples, is generated and muffled, also depending on the coordination and balance of the seesawing visitors.
The aim of the installation is to get the visitors to consider their relations and balance to each other.
