Monday
On the first day of the 3rd week I went back to Garden community school to start the process of creating the first artworks. I brought materials like glue, scissors, paper and a couple of boxes to use as a strong foundation. Unfortunately, most of the students forgot to bring their materials that they should have been collecting. Only one student brought a piece of a box… I decided to explain everything again and gave them new ideas about here to find materials and told them that they could even bring grass. I also went through the pictures of the students and matched their names to the pictures.
Tuesday
We were supposed to go and see Bwafwano community school but because of the heavy rains we cancelled our plans and decided to come back on Thursday and Friday.
Thursday
We went to Bwafwano school again to do some more of the interviews. Nothing much else happened today, we are going back tomorrow because Garden community school has December holidays. We wanted to start creating the artworks on Friday so we told the students to bring boxes.
Friday
When we arrived in the classroom of Bwafwano school, we were amazed of how many boxes the students have brought. We brought boxes of our own as well because we thought there wouldn’t be enough. It was really nice to see that they are really trying their best and putting a lot of effort into this project. It shows that they really appreciate what we are doing and that it means a lot to them. We were impressed. We started gluing a4 papers to the boxes and they started sketching their houses. They followed with rice, beans, seeds and more. Some students had finished their works but some had to continue working on them on Monday.
