“My name is Ngoza Zulu and I’m doing my seventh grade. I drew a picture about a village with a woman making a fire and a man carrying some firewood. This is how people work in villages. They don’t have electricity nor electric appliances such as stoves and bulbs. They don’t even have taps or sinks they use wells, boreholes and dams to fetch water. I went to the village and stayed for 4 days, I was inspired by the way they work together to survive, even if the situation is terrible, they are still happy. It is really hard to live in a house with no light but the moon or electricity. But by the way they work they don’t really mind. I drew this picture for people to see how people manage to survive as one family. It’s like ants working together. One side there is a mother cooking, a father bringing firewood from the woods, and the other side we have the elder child fetching water and another child taking care of the younger ones. So I drew this picture because I was inspired by how they work and I also want people to be inspired by the way they work as a family.” – Ngoza Zulu
