Last year we bought our first car, a very tough blue Toyota that cruised the furniture makers all over the country and made sure that there was always food, drink and building materials when we needed them. The car seems very robust, but we are sometimes afraid of uninvited users. That’s why driver Mwila usually takes him home, to park him next to his bedroom window. That has to change! That is why we not only want to set up a music and video studio during the upcoming construction session, but also a garage where we can safely store the car and other materials.
By doing this at the same time, we save a lot of transport and labour costs, and we make use of the rate of the kwacha, which is still relatively favorable. Converted, a 6m. roof sheet of medium quality costs about 20 euros, a cement block of 40x20x20 cm. 50cents, a bag of cement 7 euros and a beam of 5 meters 14 euros.
Cement, of course, is not that eco, so we limit ourselves to the foundation, the corners and the lower layers that can get really wet. We want to cover the sides with sustainable wood from the forest, a total of about 225 euros. The doors have to be made to measure, for which we count on about 160 euros each. We now assume a garage of almost 6×6 meters, so that there is now room for the Prado, a bicycle and the wood for the furniture makers and the beehives. We are designing the garage multifunctionally, so that the wood and the bicycle can possibly make way for a car for visitors in the future.
Those who want to help are very welcome! We hope to switch to a more sustainable bank soon, but for the time being all donations can still go to NL58INGB0001003314 in the name of the Kambisa Foundation! In Zoetermeer. Our RSIN number is 815908921 (important for the tax authorities, so that you can deduct donations).
